How Often Should Artists Post on Social Media?

Education & Guides

Post often enough that people can recognise you are active, but not so often that every update feels like a demand for attention. The useful answer is not a fixed number. It is a rhythm you can maintain while still making music and having something real to say.

Choose a few kinds of posts that suit you. A short studio moment, a thought about a night you attended, a visual from your creative process, or a clear update around a release can all work when they come from your actual week. You do not need to turn every quiet day into content.

Consistency matters more than trying to appear everywhere at once. Pick the channels you enjoy using and learn what feels natural there. If filming clips drains all your energy, simplify the format. If writing comes easily, use that strength. An approach you resent will not last.

Pay attention to the replies you receive. Questions, conversations and repeat listeners tell you more than chasing a perfect posting routine. Reply like a person, not a brand account reading from a script.

Give yourself room to disappear into the work too. Social media can support your music, but it should not become the whole project. Keep a small bank of ideas for busy periods, post with intention, and return to the studio before you start repeating yourself.
